I heard of Flip4mac, but I heard that you have to do some type of Rosetta hack to get it work. Is there an easy plugin or player that will allow for playback of WMV on a mac with relative ease? I also heard of Popwire is that good?

No, there's no Rosetta hack involved. Flip4Mac became a Universal app many months ago.

Flip4Mac is great – it's what I use to view WMV files.
