So since we've got a couple of polls about watches, I thought I might as well reproduce a poll from Slashdot, and see how Mac users compare to Linux geeks

    Here was the Slashdot poll:

    Best Shoe Fastening Method?
    A) Laces, tied each day
    B) Laces, tied once and slipped on/off
    C) Velcro
    D) Loafers/wooden clogs
    E) Buckles
    F) Snaps/zippers
    G) Krazy Glue/duct tape
    H) Can't afford shoes

Feel free to pick one of the above, or add your own choice if appropriate (see, we offer more flexible choices than Slashdot) :)

    Haha.
    B

    I) I wish...might try that someday.

You could probably tell by this and my 'how do you wear your watch' post that I don't like taking things on and off...once they're on it should stay that way! :p :D

I'm currently wearing ankle-length boots with no laces so may I add

    N) No laces or fastenings - just slip on.

    Otherwise I'm A

I honestly don't know. I have the butler do it for me, and I never pay attention to how he fastens them.

Duct tape (preferably the kind for taping ducks) is the way to go, except that if you go all the way around the shoe, the sole part wears away too quickly. Sometimes I just glue rubber to the bottoms of my feet. Or tie leaves to them.

I'm sorry... it's 5:20am and I guess I should go to bed now. But I want to be a "regular", not a "member"! And seriously, it's all about the sneakers with the permanently-tied laces. And "not-socks". And ducks. Wow it's like I'm all hopped-up on goofballs or something!

Most of the time, I am B. However, when I have to tie my shoes, I go for the loop it then swoop it method.

Social pressures and a yearning for acceptance into an order of people, none of whom I have ever met nor intend to meet, draws me to admit that both my left foot and my right foot normally adopt category A as apparel fastening method.

[Please note that I am not sure if that sentence made sense as I have just finished off a 1 litre jug of black coffee]

Usually A, but I've been known to be in the D category with slip on shoes for work and zouri (flip-flops to you) around home.

I work at home right now, so usually I just wear socks. When I do manage to get out of the house, I choose method A to secure my Vans to my feet.

Flip-flops/thongs/jandals all year round. Even in the snow. What's a sock?

Outside of work all I ever wear is my Birkenstock sandals, which slip on and off. Snow, rain, sleet, ice. Whatever sandals is IT.
At work I have a pair of work shoes tied up but as soon as I get in the car they come off.
If it was up to me I wouldn't wear any type of footwear at all. I like the feel of the ground under foot.

That's the fun of it! :D

As for me (don't know why I didn't mention this in my original post), I was A up until a few months ago because B didn't really work with the shoes I had. But now I'm B (almost, they came pre-tied). I can't go back to A without buying new shoes because it's not possible to re-tie these ones.

    Left foot: A
    Right foot: A

Yeah, so they are the same, but I am deeply offended that this poll makes the assumption that both feet must be covered with the same technique. How insensitive can we be? What gives us the right to discriminate against people who have nonmatched shoe techniques, whether by choice (fashion statement), misfortune (one foot in a cast), or unintentional (nerds who don't notice they are wearing one high-heel lace-up boot and one sandal)? We should all be ashamed of ourselves!

Complain to the Slashdotter who wrote it, not me

Besides, I said you could add your own choices.
