Seriously how long do you sleep per day? Recently I have been having naps in the afternoon due to having to wake up early so I sleep an average of 13 hours per day but not in one chunk.

    Be honest,

Erm. About 7 or 8 hours. It's been like that for about five months. I keep going to bed at like 1am then getting up at 8am. I should get to bed earlier :p

Never more than 7 hours, and never past 10:30. The 7 hours thing I can live with, but not being able to sleep past 10:30 in the morning is kinda annoying.

Anything between 4 to 10 hours. I'm rubbish at sleeping, and used to be badly insomniac (as a kid and a teenager). I'm better than I was now though, but just not very good at keeping to a good routine.

i usually try to get no less than 8 hours but no more than 8.5, otherwise i'm just tired all day. today i slept for 10.5 and i was rather impressed with myself. it's been a while since i slept that long (my record is 11, btw). i suppose it's because i had a busy week and a tiring day to top it off (yesterday). i feel quite refreshed, though!

5.5 - 7 hrs, maybe. Because I started commuting this semester, I never stay up much later than 12:30-1AM anymore. Then I gotta get at 7:30AM, and it all starts over again.

Even on weekends, I get up around 8:30AM or 9AM. I can't seem to sleep in like I used to. It's kind of depressing--I'm growing up =(

I run on about a 5 hour average, but will have to crash every 10 days or so trying to make up for deprivation.

5-7 hours, but never in one chunk. I usually sleep for 3 hours solid in the beginning, and then wake up every 40 minutes or so.

I sleep around 5 hours a day, not usually more than that. It's usually from 11PM-4AM.

About 7-8 hours. I try to go to bed by midnight and I'm generally up by 8. Trouble is I've lost my ability to sleep in at weekends, so I still have to get up when body clock says so.

On average probably about 5 hours a night... that's in a good week! But can vary from about 3 or 4 hrs to 6 hours. Never enough basically. Actually no, thinking about it probably not even 5 hours average. :(

Oddly enough, I've been getting tons of sleep this year. I used to sleep very little. Now I sleep about 6 hours during "normal sleep" but then I tack on about 3-4 hours usually in the form of one big afternoon nap and a few little naps in classes.

More than four hours sleep is a waste of time. You have a shorter lifespan and less hours in each day.

    Interesting thread.

I try to sleep 8 hours a night, from 11 till 7 in the morning.
Since I started to work three years ago I am finding it very hard to sleep in as well.

The thing is, my mood depends a lot on how I sleep.

I hate it when I have insomnias. I hate being awake at night when everybody seems to be sleeping. I usually go for a one our walk outside, the fresh air and the exercice calms me down and makes me sleepy, but the next day will most certainly not be pleasant and filled with a lot of coffe brakes.

I think that healthy sleep is a very good psychological balance.

Spending your life in a dazed stupor doesn't seem like such a good trade off to me. ;) All over the map here...about 5 last night, but that wasn't enough. Prefer 8.

at least 9-10 hours a day, if I get less I tend to fall asleep as soon as I am somewhat relaxed ie on the bus, in lectures etc.

    I love being a hypersomniac

Sleeping 12-16 hours a day is not that unusual if I have been under extra stress or getting sick

I could not do this. I mean my life is a ball of stress as it is, but I can't imagine getting enough work done to feed myself in 8 hours of being awake.
