Im buying a macbook pro in the next week or so. i have to put vista on it so i can use my work tools, but most of my stuff ( dvds, music, web) will be done using osX. how much hard disk space do i need? i wanted a 160 gb hd, with 60gb for each OS and its respective apps, and the remaining 60 as general storage for both. the problem is that on refurb'ed laptops, the 15" macbook pro's never come with 160gb but only 120gb. would 120 be enough or will i be upgrading in a year or two?

You won't be able to make a general storage partition with that setup, but about 60 GB for Mac OS X and about 60 GB for Windows should be plenty of space for your needs. I do hope you realize that a 120 GB hard drive doesn't actually hold 120 GB of data, and so your two "60 GB" partitions, assuming they're equal in size, will be smaller than 60 GB in actuality.

i realise this, its just easier to discuss without picking on all the little things like that. i use vista at work and it requires min of 30gb,. so if i give mac os 30 also, and then the rest as fat 32 for general storage , i should have enough
