Just wondering. Assuming the system is $249 (which rumors say less, but Nintendo has not confirmed), and the games are still about $50, what do you plan to spend?
Since I'm starting college, I have some cash left over from graduation gifts, about $1200. I've still got stuff to buy for my dorm, but I think I should be able to stash maybe $425 away for the system and 3 games. Depending on what's launched, I want to get SMG, MP3, and LoZ. I can get other games for Christmas, or later on when I make some more money.

    What are your plans?

    $250

I just want a system that doesn't freeze up on my 1P cube games. I also need a DVD player that doesn't skip. I can wait until Christmas to get the Wii games. I've got a little catching up to do while I wait

assuming the wii is $250 and comes with 2 controllers, 2 nunchucks, and a classic controller:

    wii - $250
    1GB SD card - $30
    zelda - $50
    metroid - $50
    red steel - $50
virtual console games - maybe $20ish

    Thats $450

I do plan on buying mario too, but as some of you may have forgot, it's not a launch title ;)

No time in the recent past has any system come with 2 controllers, as far as I know.

they're trying to target the wii as something everyone can play together (hence "wii"), so it doesn't seem too farfetched to think they will include two controllers.

in any case, only time will tell.

    0€, I'll wait for rev.B!

    Oops, wrong thread ;)

I'll get a 2nd controller and the closest thing to a party game available on launch day.

Probably just the console and one game to start with that will keep me occupied for awhile

Now that I think about it, I believe Wii is supposed to be coming with both the Wiimote and the SNES-like controller... So technically 2 people could play. Wii definitely isn't going to come with 4 controllers.

The N64 had two controllers. Can't remember if it did at launch, though.

And one of the more recent interviews with some Nintendo big wig hinted SMG might be a launch title. My post said "if", though. I know it's not likely.

Assuming I can afford it, the console plus at least 3 launch titles (MP3:Corruption, Red Steel, Twilight Princess).

£180 - Wii, Controllers, cables, possible extra SD card and battery charger if necessary.
£ 70 - Zelda: Twilight Princess and Far Cry Wii
    £ 15 - Virtual Console games
    ------
£265 - Which is less than the proper Xbox 360 package, for a lot more.

You think wrongly my dear friend :p 1 only unless you saw a bundle or somthing..

    As for Wii....

Well I'll have around 8 360 titles I hardly play, so they'll be traded in and then I'll pay the difference for a wii, as many games as take my fancy and I'll be happy... ohhhh yesss.

I'm standing buy my belief that the Wii will launch at £120 in England. so.

    Wii- £120
    VGA cable- £20
    Zelda, Metroid Prime 3- £70
    2 random impulse games- £70
    £20 worth of classic titles
planning on using an old 5gb HDD as storage.

    =£300.

£160 less than the PS3 with nothing and £30 more than the 360.

I'm looking at spending enough to get me another controller, LoZ:TP and perhaps smooth moves if I have the cash. Already got an extra SD Card so i'm all set. FYI, cheap ones can be found at Newegg. Good stuff, especially the day after thanksgiving. Where you don't have to brave the lines and get the deals.

The little woman and I have set aside $500, we figure that should be plenty. whatever the Gamecube will bring at the secondhand shop will just be extra.

Wii + Twilight Princess + Component Cables

Whatever that is, assuming I have the cash, is what I'll spend. Hopefully it will be launch day (a lot's changed in the past 2.5-3 weeks) but that's what I'll be getting the day I go to the store.

Don't know about the prices, but I'm getting a Wii + Metroid Prime 3. And maybe Excite Truck depending on the total price of Wii + MP3.

I hope Nintendo continues its "tradition" with cables and supports the same cables as the SNES/N64/Gamecube + Gamecube component cable (which I already have). BTW Metroid Prime 2 looks really good with component + progressive display!
