Next month, my G3 iceBook will be turning 4 years old--and still running strong. I'm on my 3rd hard drive, I've had to replace the reed switch, fix a trackpad issue, upgrade from Puma to Panther, and even ran windows via Virtual PC.

And you know what? I think this little machine can go for another at least 2-4 years. In fact I do plan on doing some minor additions to my machine. I plan on upping the ram from 384Mb to 640Mb. I found some memory at newegg.com that I might pick up. I'm also thinking of getting a set of speakers, perhaps the JBL Creature II's, to compensate for the tinny iBook speakers.

I don't plan on buying another mac until at least the rev B Intel Powerbooks are introduced--and that might be a very long time.

So how old is everybody else's current system?

7 months, minus four days, today.

    omg, it's a dinosaur!
    :p

The iBook G3 is from 01 and still goin' strong! (just ignore that the speakers are dead. That was my dad's fault.)

My 733 QuickSilver G4 (2001) just turned four, and I don't see why I can squeeze at least another year out of it. It chugs from time to time, but the increase in RAM certainly helped (just went from 768mbs to 1.25gbs). My 1.2 iBook is 1 year, 8 months old, and still plenty fast.

My iPod, on the other hand looks pretty lame in comparison to what's out there. It's a 3rd gen 10 gig. Not very impressive, but it still plays music which is all I really could ask for.

I go this 15" Powerbook on Nov 14th. I love it. I thought of the 17" upgrade but this seems like the perfect friend. I hope it lasts for years!

My Powerbook is 1 year and a couple of of months old. Bought it in September, or maybe it was October, last year. Don't remember exactly.

I got my iBook in September, and the Cube next to it in Christmas 2000. They share a Creative Soundblaster MP3+ USB soundcard, macally iKey keyboard, Kensington Optical Elite mouse, and Samsung LT-P1545 LCD TV (no KVM switch, just me plugging and unplugging VGA cable and USB hub). I plan to continue using them both for some time.

Current system is over a year old. PB was purchased in August 04. The iMac was probably purchased in 2000?. Still runs.

My iMac is about 4-5 months old I'm guessing, iBook a bit longer than that and Compaq, well who really cares?

My dual 2.7Ghz Power Mac G5 was 'born' between 23/05/2005 and 29/05/2005. So precisely six months.

As much as I love the iBook, I still really love the G3 'icebook'. I like the transparent layer of plastic over the white.

Notice how the iPod originally had this 'look', phased out with 3G & 4G iPods, and brought it back with the 5G ones?
I hope they do they same with the next revision of iBooks.

Neat! That little app is fun. I haven't tried my iPod on it yet, but it told me that my iBook was born in Taiwan. Of course, I think I already knew that. :)
