I have an ipod classic. I also have an old home computer. I add songs to my ipod via itunes (convert Cd to mp3). My problem is that I need to use itunes to sync up my ipod and add the new songs to my ipod. All these new converted cds has put a lot of stress on my home computer's memory.
I tried removing already synced up cds from my home computer, but when I sync up my ipod, it removed them from it. So it seems like I have to have every song/cd in the home computer's itune library or it will delete them from my ipod upon next sync session. Is this right?
How can I continue to add songs to the ipod, while deleting the old ones off itunes from my home computer's memory, but not have itunes tell my ipod to delete the old files?
    Does this make sense?

Songs have to remain in your iTunes library. You cannot delete them from the library and keep them on your ipod.

converted CDs do not stress your computer's memory. They do take up space on the hard disk.

    Thank you....but

Thank you Bartleby for the information. I thought so.

And to old, I need some clarification....What is difference between taking up space on your hard drive vs your computers memory?

The difference between memory and hard disk space is explained here.

Press Shift-CMD-U in Finder to get utilities and start Activity Monitor (or similar in English) to explore how much of both you use.

    Re:

Check the "Manually manage music" options, then drag audio files from explorer/finder to your iPod "music" section.

and dont sync with your old library, cause new songs those are NOT in your library will be erased.

    Just my experience.
