You'll need the mini-DVI to Video adapter.

If you want to have the audio go to your TV as well, you'll need a 3.5 mm miniplug to RCA audio adapter and a cord for one of those.

I figured the video. I don't understand what kind of adaptor you are talking about?

For the audio, you'd need something like this, although there are much cheaper solutions out there than Monster Cable. Otherwise, you can just play the audio through your MacBook's speakers.

(The MacBook has a combined digital/headphone output jack, so you could also use a mini Toslink to RCA audio adapter, but you'll probably be fine with the cheaper analog option described above.)

We should find out what kind of TV he has first, and wha kind of inputs it has. If he has a newer TV there's a good chance it'll have VGA, DVI or HDMI inputs. These would give a better picture than the DVI to Video adapter.

We should also find out what kind of audio inputs his TV/Receiver has - if he's got a nice 5.1 setup, a 3.5 mm mini to TOSLINK/SPDIF adapter would provide for better audio quality.

True...I may have assumed too much from his comment about a "standard TV set."
