Hi. I have a DV camcorder Samsung VP-D70 with a few DV tapes which I would like to convert to a modern media format. I will likely want to edit the media in Final Cut X.

I have a mid-2012 Macbook Air which has a lightning port. How do i transfer footage from the DV camera to MacBook Air?

I think you mean ThunderBolt. Lightning is for iPhone/iPad
I used a FW to TB cable.

This assumes your Camcorder has FW. There are two types of FW (400 and 800). You'll have to check which one is applicable. Also, I don't see the FW cables on apple.com so you might have to go to a 3rd party site.

Of course - ThunderBolt! Thanks for the link I have ordered a cable from Apple.

Thank you.

I have also found these instructions from Apple on how to Import to Final Cut X.
