mine has started doing that same thing! not good when watching a movie, so what i did was just click on caffiene so my mac wont go to sleep. have tried sorting it in sys prefs like yourself too.

there must be a reason for the problem, i bet somebody here knows the answer.

Download a program called caffeine. When you run this it will override any settings and stop your computer from sleeping

the only way I can get my '09 mac pro to sleep is by using a program called "PleaseSleep".

It sleeps my mac pro, unlike a program called 'Narcolepsy'. I was hoping narcolepsy would work, because it has a setting to not sleep if itunes is playing. PleaseSleep only has a setting to not sleep if itunes is RUNNING. ... doesn't work for me on my music server...

any one else have a suggestion?

    thanks,
    r.

    did.

    pleasesleep --to ensure sleeping
jitter --to prevent sleep while itunes is playing back

works "perfectly" (thought should be unnecessary me thinks)

Could you please tell me where I can find "jitter"?
My Mac mini 2011 (10.7.3) is also going to sleep although iTunes is playing.
I don't want to disable sleep completely. Is it a bug or a feature??
