I have a 15" Powerbook 1.5 ghz, 4200 rpm hd, 64 mb vram with 512 RAM and was wondering how you all think HALO would run on it? I would test it myself however I don't want to have wasted $50 if it runs terribly. Thanks for your input! :)

From what I can gather from reading other posts on this forum in the past, it should play nicely. I don't know if you will be able to max out the settings or not, but it should play nicely.

On my friends standard 1.5ghz powerbook with the same amount of ram as you... He gets an average of 37fps with everything turned up full, apart from pixal shaders.

So it should run very nicely.

(ps.. He's still using 10.3.3, and he hasn't updated Halo yet)

You're friend is doing better than average! Halo plays ok on the Powerbook, no doubt about it. I have the 1.5 PB and play Halo with a resolution of 1280 x 854 (native res, full screen), model detail on high, NO pixel shaders or FSAA, and the rest of the settings somewhere between low and medium. It plays fine, but in areas with large numbers of bad guys or marines (i.e., lots of AI for the CPU to control) it definitely lags and drops some frames. These moments are relatively rare, however.

So, is it playable on the PB.... yup! Is it a great port that runs butter smooth (like Call of Duty seems to be for me so far)... nope! Nice enough for pleasurable playing though.

I might add I have the 128 MB of VRAM (which doesn't make a HUGE difference), and the 5400rpm HD (which makes a noticeable difference).

So what I gather is that with my current setup this game on a scale of 1-10 (10 being very well) this game runs at about a 6?

Runs great on my 12" Rev B,it should run way better on the new 15" 1.5's!

yeah it will run fine, but you will need to tweak the settings for optimal performance. :)

Run vertex shaders (not pixel), 800x600 resolution, 5x FSAA sampling, high model detail, low lense flare. That works on mine. :)
