Hello,

I am new to this idea, and was hoping someone might be able to help me.

I would like to get a Mini Mac and do the following.

1.Put a home automation software on it, I use Insteon around the house, so with Indigo I can use my Harmony Remote to controll lights.

2. Again with Insteon Keypads, I could controll the ITunes music on it from many rooms in the house.

3. Put all my DVD's on it. It drives me crazy when I find my daughters DVD around the house.

What would the picture quality be of DVD put on the IMAC? I am using a 70" TV, and don't want to give up any quality from my Denon 3910.

This is the software that I was planning on using for the Automation.

What software would I need?

Thanks

It will not match the 3910. But it is perfectly adequate compared to most players. With the proper software, of course. There is actually better quality to be found in software (player and video drivers) for Windows. Which can also be run on the Intel Macs. But you will only come close to the top Denons.

VLC is probably your best bet for a Mac player. Or DVD Player, but it isn't as compatible.

That X10 software looks cool, I'll have to check that out.
