?

Do you think there is a need for a "entry level" iPad?

  1. Hell Yes, Apple needs to branch out and hit that Amazon Kindle market

I'm more just curious on how people think regarding this. Would you want lower prices for an iPad if it used less premium parts as it currently has. IE Plastic back as opposed to Aluminum, non-Corning branded glass.

Maybe an entry level tablet made by Apple that is significantly cheaper like the discontinued white/black plastic Macbook?

I for one don't think it's necessary but I'm just curious about how people on this forum feel there should be a lower priced (cheaper parts) entry level iPad.

This is really just for fun.

Smaller and $100 cheaper.. i'll go with that. Inferior quality ? No thanks. Thats what makes Apple, Apple.

The kindle is junk, why would apple need to compete there? Would you rather trade your iPad and the iOS ecosystem for a kindle? If not why would anyone else in their right mind? There are plenty of second rate android tablets out there for people.

Well it would still run iOS and all that just use less premium parts that Apple has been known for the last few years. Essentially you'll get your 199-250 dollar tablet from Apple but it would not be as top notch as the current iPad.

    Never happen.

Smaller will also come in at the same price point. Component savings are nominal.

...and maybe add promotion sticks on the product and box to help offset the costs. Steve would be so proud :D

    I want to unvote

I clicked there is a need. What I meant though is that there is a need for a smaller device, but not a cheaper, inferior and smaller 'entry level' device.

Same quality please (even if it means same price).

The iPod shuffle is the furthest you can be from a premium product.

Also, the poll should be Yes, No, Maybe.

All of your poll options suck. I want a plain no option.

    Then don't vote...

    ----------

That's boring... You can make a boring hypothetical poll if you want. This was just an opinion exercise that was just for fun.

Whats the point of having a poll then? It's not his fault you didn't thoroughly think this thing through.

I think the only reason why the iPad 2 is stil in production is because they wanted it to be their entry level tablet.

Personally I would rather pay 300 for a used iPad 2 than a kindle fire any day

For people who at aren't DHs about the "answers" to participate, like the ones who have already voted.

You don't like the choices start your own poll. It's a free country.
