My 17" Rev E PowerBook's battery has gone from WAY above spec to just below it in a matter of 3 months.

Also, coconutbattery says my Mac is 4 months old, with 71 cycles. That seems like a lot of cycles for such a short time.

I'm not really sure what my question is. I know my battery is still 'to spec' according to Apple (hasn't lost most of its charge), but has anyone else seen this with theirs?

    Darn you coconutbattery.

Do you leave it plugged in or running on battery?

My iBook is ~5 months old and Coconutbattery suggests 173 Cycles, 95% capacity. I run my iBook on battery most of the time, charging it overnight.

A cycle means the equivalent of one full discharge of the battery (e.g. two 50% discharges, or 1x20% + 1x80% or etc, etc). 71 cycles in three or four months is a lot. But it's either true or not true. Are you using your battery on a daily basis? If so, it's quite possible....mine is at 140 cycles, for what it's worth, after almost 30 months of ownership....
