also the drug i think he is trying to refer to is phenylephrine hci and if this is the case the many news networks would have the recall on them and i have not seen it yet.

Well, I typically don't believe email that contains 5 levels of quote marks (>>>>>), but here is the info from the FDA, so it seems true. Link

Great catch, Paul! But these new hoaxers have added a recall twist. Imagine recalling all those old medications? It's absurd!

Phenolpropanolamine was originally a decongestant (vasoconstrictor) in hay-fever medications, a competitor of pseudoephedrine. Then someone noticed it had mild allergy-suppressive action (as do all vasoconstrictors). Suddenly it appeared as Dietac and a slew of other "diet pills". I thought it was funny, and expected people to say "I haven't lost any weight, but it's great for my stuffy nose!".

Disclaimer: I'm no pharmacist or doctor, just a hay-fever sufferer.

Does anybody have any idea why people make up this stuff? I understand the hoax virus messages. (The ones that have people delete important system files) It is more efficient than a real virus. But what does this letter achieve? (Unless the original sender seaches the internet trying to find how far it went?)
