Got this email from the Macguide Editor today (who I work for)

    (Part of Email)

    Hi

Here are two events which may interest you personally, or be of value to someone you know. In particular, please forward this to anyone who you believe would appreciate knowing about this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity meet and hear Woz.

    (i) A Gala Dinner to hear Steve "Woz" Wozniak (co-founder of Apple, and one of the 5 most famous individuals in the history of computing) will be of deep interest to just about everyone who works in IT, all Apple computer fans, and anyone with an interest in the history and future of computing.

    (Part End)

Question is, it will be expensive, but should I go? Will it be worth it?

    Nah, he's pretty boring.

I got to meet him in an airport when I was coming off a plane. :D

Too stupid to get him to sign my iBook, though.

Haha, I'll take your word for it then Gary. Thanks for saving me a few hundred towards my PowerMac :D

    EDIT:

My Mum just said she would pay for me...She never pays for anything of mine that has too do with technology. Now this makes my decision hard ;)

Will your Mom let you use that money toward your computer, that would be even better.

If someone else is paying for it, go right ahead. Granted he may be boring (I have never met him) but it would still be pretty interesting to meet him I think.

Okay, I think I will go then. Might make for a nice thread on MacRumors with some pictures from the evening and maybe even some audio recording of him talking about his time at Apple.

Now to hire a suit again...

I'd go in a second. The man is a legend. Some of his lectures can be a little dry but the guy is a tech geek inspiration. He always talks about constant elevation of the engineering artform - always moving forward in finding better, more elegant ways of creating something. What's "expensive" mean? How much are we talking here? Is the speech in New Zealand? If it were nearby in the U.S. I'd be there.

Check out Woz's site - pretty low-tech but his responses to people's emails (in the letters section) are very heartfelt and enlightening.

If you go please take photos/video/audio and if you need a host for all of it just pm me.

If you really had an "opportunity" then your tickets would be paid for.

Dude, meet him! He's been on TWiT a couple of times and seems like a really down to earth, cool guy, not to mention the co-founder of our favorite company!

    1. Are you really the co-founder of Apple?

    2. Really?

    3. Really?

    4. You left Apple to make a universal remote, where the hell is it Woz? You've had years...

    5. How much to shave off the beard?

    6. Apart from yourself, who do you think could kick Jobs' arse in a fight.

    7. What one feature would you add to OS X if you could?

    8. The 14" iBook, what do you reckon? A bit clunky?

    9. Have you been given your own tartan by the Scottish government in appreciation of your constant patronage of the traditional Scottish pattern?

    10. Which way to the buffet?

    Innie or outie?

What about the camera? You're saving for it, remember?

Anyway, material goods can always be bought later. Meeting Woz is special, unless you're iGary who was damn lucky enough to meet him for free at an airport. I remember that story. I still can't believe he didn't ask Woz to sign his computer.
