I'm looking for a small or smaller PDA. It doesn't need a ton of features, but the size is important to me. Also, compatibility with my iBook would be nice. It doesn't need WiFi, or bluetooth (although I wouldn't complain about bluetooth). It doesn't need to play music or video or anything like that. I just was a nice device to keep my schedule and contacts on, but I like/need the calendar view and the ability to input easily dates and times.

I have used a Handspring Edge in the past and it worked, but I would like to update to something new and smaller if possible.

I carried a Sony Clie for a number of years, but have changed to keeping my Calendar and Contacts on my iPod.

Since that doesn't help you out with the ability to input dates and times, this is a good opportunity for me to reiterate my desire for some kind of text input device for Ipods with Dock connectors. Basically All I want is a small T9 keypad that hooks up to the dock connector and would allow me to input an occasional contact/calendar item/note on my iPod now that it has become my PIM.

That z22 is probably a good choice. It's dimensions are:
    2.7" W x 4.06" H x .6" D 3.4oz

Your old Visor Edge was thinner but larger in Height and Width:
    3.1" W x 4.7" H x 0.44" D 4.8oz

You could also look for a Sony Clie TJ25, TJ25, TJ27 or TJ37 on eBay. Sony dropped out of the Palm OS market a few years back though.

If the PDA you choose doesn't support iSync check out The Missing Sync for a great sync app for Mac OS X

Does the Clie work with Mac OS X? It seems like it is a little smaller than the Z22, but that doesn't matter if it won't sync.

For the record; I don't think the z22 has a backlit screen. I don't know about you, but I would need one.

It can, at least with Missing Sync.

The Clies were definitely the Macs of the PalmOS world. Got my wife a TG50 a couple of years ago and she still loves it. Too bad they got out of the martket.

Maybe not the most practical, but definitely the smallest and cheapest fully-functional PalmOS PDA you can buy:

Yes, they shrunk a Palm Vx into a watch. I just got one for kicks (already have a Treo 650) and it's pretty darn neat. Definitely supported by Missing Sync, haven't tried installing the software that came with it - I don't even remember if it came with mac software.

(If you do get one, I recommend clicking the "8 used & new available from $39.99" link and buying from shlee1 - the total cost will be ~$45 shipped. Not bad considering it cost $200 when it came out last year)

Yeah, I've seen the Fossil Abacus watch before (not in person), but I just think it would be to big for my skinny wrist. Maybe the best choices for me are the z22 or one of the Clie's, I guess I need to look into those a little more unless anyone else has some great ideas.

I think almost all of the current PDAs are small in size (as far as carrying it along with you). I used to have Palm V515 and updgrated it to LifeDrive about more than 6 months ago. It is a little larger than v515 but it is packed with more features (BT, WiFi, 4GB HD, Voice Recording, and etc). If you get the leather case (such as from Piel Frama of Spain), you can hang it from the belt with the case's clip (this is how I carry this thing most of the time). It is very easy to hold in the hand when you use a stylus.

Like you I also use the iPod for calendar, contacts and notes. I have always desired an input manner, but just jot it down and add it to the comp when I get home.

There was a good editorial about the Z22 at 1src.

    Link

If I was getting a new, compact and cheap PDA, I'd go with the Z22. But I'm not dumping my Palm T3 and Sharp Zaurus SL-C760 just yet... Plus I have a Vx in the reserve if the T3 broke down.

Try an iPaq HP rx1950. Pretty small and quite chic.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I decided to go with the Palm z22 because of the price, size, and features (or lack there of). I don't need that powerful of a machine, I just need something to consolidate all of my calendars and paper notes. I'm eagerly waiting for this to come in the mail. I ordered yesterday, but surprisingly I received an e-mail that the rubber cases shipped today without the z22 :( Oh well, I hope it gets here soon!!!
