My dual G5 1.8 PM began to fail a few weeks ago. It developed a well-known issue where the case fans would run on full bore. Sometimes you can fix this, sometimes you can't. Now and then the machine would boot up properly but now the fans always come on full. Well, I finally got a clue and ran the Hardware Test CD that came with the machine. Some people get the error code of 2I2C/1/1:0x00000092 which is pretty rare (someone said it was a code only for European machines but this is an Australian one). But you want to know what I got? 2I2C/1/1:0x00000094 post/3264/0. When you do a search and can't find a single instance of an error code you have to wonder whether Apple should send you a prize or something. Anyway, the good news is that I can just buy a used PM G5 for two or three hundred dollars - with better CPUs - and swap the drive over and keep working as before. Of course I could get an Intel Mac. But I'll have to consider what I want, then if I want one I'll buy it immediately after the model refresh. If anyone has any ideas, please feel free to share - but I'm just amazed at how I seem to be the only one with this error code!
