I have a iBook G4 with a broken backlight. The iBook was custom painted Maroon (Only the back part of display and around the keyboard), and I don't like it. Will an iBook G3 12" display work on the G4? Or should I just replace the backlight inverter? Are the inverters even the same on a G3 & G4 of both sizes?
:confused::confused::confused:

I don't think so, no. The iBook G3 displays are interoperable (I know because I'm messing around with one right now) but I don't think the G4s are with the G3s.

Ack! I need to figure this out, because the display and everything works fine, it just needs a new backlight....and it's original white color back!:cool:

Cool, I would have never thought about buying an as-is machine though. Yep, I just might buy a whole new display....

Sorry, scratch that. The 12" iBook G3, G4 and 12" PowerBook G4 displays are interchangeable, but it sounds like a hell of an undertaking to do the replacement.

Oh well, I've already purchased an iBook G4 12" display, and I've downloaded a repair manual for that specific model, so hopefully this will work out....:apple:
