I know this may be an incredibly stupid question, but i seem to find conflicting things... but i want to replace an ibook g3 harddrive and i was wondering what exact specs I need to have with the harddrive for it to work.

    would this harddrive work?

also, are there any good suggestions of a good place to get good prices on harddrives and particular brands/types to get.

I am perfectly happy with a 5400 rpm drive. Just looking for something 60gb or larger for under 100 dollars.

    Thanks in advance.

I just replaced my wifes G3 ibook with a 120gig HD 5400 and it rocks for her, much more space than the 30gig factory release. 80 for the drive. not bad

the ibook g3s are a PAIN IN THE BUTT to get apart, i tried, gave up after step 36...there was a screw in an impossible place to get to that i had to remove, so i said eff it and put it back together...the ifixit guide shows its accessible by opening the optical guide, yeah the optical drive completely blocks it...at least on mine
