Sounds like a hardware problem (specifically a pinched/bent wire).

    Here is my poor iBook.
I don't really have time to deal with it, I am selling it, I also posted it on craigs list (which got a few scammers attention! )

    It is 800Mhz, 640MB ram, CD-RW/DVD , 12".
Is there "for sale" section where I can list it here? It works great with external display.

Not much help to offer here, but I had a similar problem with my old MB a few years ago and had to trash it. Apple wanted way too much to repair it.
