My co-worker needs help with his iBook.

I switched when the Mac Mini came out, so seeing this iBook from 2001 is pretty interesting.

Anyways, he's having problems with the LCD that when he opens it all the way the LCD turns off. Any ideas for DIY fix? He also wants to know if he can add Wi-Fi?

    Thanks in advance.

Most likely, the video cable (data) or the inverter cable (light to LCD) is wearing out.
He should be able to buy a USB Wi-Fi and plug it in.

In my experience, the LVDS cable will wear at the hinge eventually failing. Can you tell if there is no image or just no backlight? Either was it's no fun to get inside iBooks.

Also, it's very simple to add an Airport card.

It's pretty simple to replace, I just had to take apart the LCD for the ibook I'm building for my girlfriend because the microphone cable snapped so I had to solder it back to together. Cables are cheap like this one. If you wan't pm me and ill make a pictorial for you of the LCD disassembly.

Airport card is also easy to add, the cards are decently priced too.
