I just typed "sysctl hw" in the term of my 800mhz iBook, and got :

hw.machine = Power Macintosh
hw.model = PowerBook4,3
...

Just thought this was interesting.
I figured that apple would have given
each a different designation. Guess
"iBook" is hidden in the "4,3" part.

Xserve's are named "RackMac 1,1"

What are iMacs and eMacs model #s?

My iMac 700 is:
hw.machine= Power Macintosh
hw.model = PowerMac4,2

So I wouldn't read much into it.
