iBooks are now officially G4 based (800mhz & 1Ghz) which means that they are equal to low end Powerbooks.

In my opinion this means that G5 is just around the corner for Powerbooks.

(read: will be released in January when Apple have the next major event I suppose = something like 2 months / 10 weeks to go)

Bit slow mate - been said already! And not actually correct, still significant differences between PowerBooks and iBooks, although it is likely G5 PowerBooks will turn up, it depends on how far away we are from that corner you were talking about. I think we won't see them until next Summer at earliest, although maybe 1 top end model to start the ball rolling in the spring. The PowerBook G4 line is far from dead.
