So, I set iCal to start when I login to my iBook, but it still shows the 17th!
It's a count down to when the world will blow up from memory.
He said he opened it, so that the correct date would be shown.
To the original poster, is the little triangle below the app show that it is still running? It should always update when ical is active. If you quit, it'll go back to July 17.
I wonder when the app was opened?
a broken calendar is right once a year!
This is Apple. It's right twelve times a year!
EVERY MONTH IS JULY! WOOO!
Every month really is July.
That would rock.
July would be cold but the pool would still be open because it's july!
MAN! I wanna try the whole polar bear club thing.
katie ta achoo dear, the icon mentions no months, July or otherwise.
mine has JUL on it meaning July
Why doesn't mine?
I'm always being left out. Steve hates me.
Mine has JUL on it, too...
Mad Jew, how about a screenshot?
Oo, you tell him, timmy!
*prepares for wrestling match over iCal's icon*
Sorry people, especially katie ta achoo. I stand corrected. Serves me right for not having my icons magnify and refusing to admit I'm old and get specs. My bad. A big sorry.
Yes, my iCal icon is just like everyone else's.
haha, it happens
We need a smiley with it's tail between its legs.
as an.. um.. apology.. you can send me a 5G iPod. that'd be cool. I'd forgive you.
/just tried this same general stunt on PlaceofDis
//didn't work that time, either.
Anyone know what the significance is of July 17th? Why'd Apple choose that particular date for the iCal icon?
iCal debuted on July 17, 2002 at the MacWorld Expo in New York.
Did Apple leave the bug intentionally or they don't sweat over little things like iCal static date?
It's the icon for the app. It's not a "bug"
It'd be a bug if you had it open and it said a different date.
Would it be possible to have a dynamic icon? Seems like the icon would be more "Apple" if it kept pace with the date even when the app wasn't running.
That is what I thought should be. You have a point, katie
VanMac, methinks your subtle humor (today IS the 17th, after all!) and you're winky smilie have eluded our fine readers.
^Some people are slow...give them time. With time, great things may occur. But probably not...
there is a shareware...
...that makes the dock icons dynamic. Look for it under apple's shareware database.
