I was just reading those Jaguar editorials on Think Secret (here ), and I noticed a few pictures of iChat that shows a more "normal" view of the buddy list and an IM window. Now I'm sure that the people with a copy of Jaguar may have already seen this, but i'd bet that the other poor fools like me without a copy were immediatly turned away from iChat after seeing pictures of it. Now without further ado:

Whats everyones problem, I hd Jaguar, and I thought that iChat was the greatest thing since soft spread butter, it was really cool, and it had the alias capabilities. I can't wait!

...great. Nice post. So how did you like it? Did it look nice? Features...bugs...etc...

Let's not get into boosting our post count with little crap posts.

I enjoyed it very much, I am a sucker for the alias capabilities, and I liked the bubble interface, although this was Build 6c35, it still was very interesting and cool. I can't wait for the final one to come out

    iChat

I'm relieved. I, too, thought iChat was VERY ugly. Those two pics look much better. I mainly use AIM. Is AOL gonna quit updating AIM now and just let Apple handle it via iChat??

The single line comments had me chuckling. I haven't used it either :D (and probably never will because none of my friends use AOL - they're all on MSN, or maybe ICQ).

Who was complaining about the brushed metal? I love the look of iChat and iTunes.

I think that everyone's forgetting that iChat's interface is likely to change between now and August.

As long as Apple doesn't have anything as cartoony as those crazy thought bubbles in iChat, I can't wait for it! Finally, a good program to send Instant Messages over my ethernet network!

    It'll do ethernet? Cool!

what about a talk feature? and how will apple handle video conferencing...think all this will be integrated?

I know I really want Talk at the very least

That's a very good point...one that I haven't considered yet. Well, I'm sure if iChat is successful voice chat will be the next step...although I think we'll see it in other more commercial (well, that's not the exact word I'm looking for) instant message programs (like AIM) first. We'll just have to wait and see what lies ahead.

    Hi everybody,

this is my first post to macrumors, so be gentle :)

I just wanted to say that I've used both iChat & Adium and even AIM :p Of all of them, I prefer Adium the best because of its flexible interface, although iChat looks & behaves nicely.

The build I used had a lot of "FEATURE NOT YET IMPLEMENTED" in it (for information in profiles, etc.) but was a nice step & I think for regular (not hard-core) Mac users, it will be welcomed.

That being said, I hope Apple steals one of Adium's good ideas: tabbed conversation window. It's much easier to have 3 conversations in one window, each as a separate tab, then to have 3 big windows floating around! Here's hopin' :D

If you notice in iTunes 3, they turned down that brushed metal look a bit. It's really kinda nice now. Well, better, at least.

i'm really looking forward to the Rendezvous chat feature... i think that is definitely one of the best features in ichat and what makes it unique from other chatting programs. it will be great once i get back to school where everyone has an ibook (although my school hasn't adopted os x yet! arg.)
