I have got an iPhone 4 with firmware 4.2.1. If I jailbreak it and then restored from a backup, would I lose all my app settings/data like game saves, log in details etc?

Unless you have shsh blobs saved from a prior firmware and want a stable system unlock there is no jailbreak for 4.2.1 so far

The latest Redsn0w will jailbreak your iPhone 4 without losing or resetting data. It is a tethered jailbreak. Meaning after a reboot or powering down your phone none of the jailbreak apps/ tweaks work until you hook it up to a computer and re-run Redsn0w. Works fine for some. More trouble than it's worth for others.

Ok I shall probably wait for the untethered jailbreak to come out. But when I do jailbreak it, would I lose all my application data like game-saves and high scores etc?
