I started to write to all the spamers to leave me alone, now I just get 10 emails a day and that makes me feel pretty lonely. I do not want more spam but... you know:(

Maybe the spammers think that you've learned how to enlarge your penis, get an interest-free mortgage, and make tons of money working at home.:D

i think in the long run you'll be happier off spam.

also, isn't there a MR directory of iChatters? you could always look that up.

or alternatively to fill the void left by the absence of spam, you could subscribe to a few mailing lists. useful ones though, like lists for OS X tips, Photoshop, Flash etc. those mailing list can fill up your inbox fairly quickly. :)

edit> i just thought you could start you own email campaign on how to get rid of the spammers. all you have to do is ask them to go away!! :D

I thought that writing to spammers just confirmed an active e-mail address, leading to more spam...Just you wait--this is lead time.

Tomorrow, you'll have 10^3840.3456 times the amount of spam you had before. And trust me, that's a lot of spam.

Usually if u reply to spam it either doesn't go through because it's a faked email address or u just make things worse for yourself by confirming your email address. What exactly did u say to these spammers that actually got them to stop?

mymemory, are you still free of spam? or have they come back now?

if you're still free of spam do tell us what you said to them. if they're still leaving you alone that must have been some email you sent them... :D

    cool

    good to know.

I've been spam free for months now.

It does get kinda lonely without it, but I've starting flirting through e-mail...so that really helps bring back the excitement of receiving mail again. ;)

    peace.

I receive hundreds of spam msgs every day!

Been thinking about paying for Eudora's spam filter.

well, here on the PC it's a pile.

we still use it, but we have another filter running on our server.

my mac mail though rarely, if ever, let's spam through.

I am happily spam free :) Ever since I rid myself of AOHelL and its 80 some spam mails a day and switched to .Mac, I have literally gotten not a single spam e-mail in two months. I am truly amazed and quite happy. Between that and the pop-up blocker in Safari, I am finally ad free. :)

Does that get rid of any "good" popups?

Yes, all popups you didn't specifically click on to open. Leave it off unless you're looking for porn.

What popups would I want? I can't think of any case where I'd want to have popup ads whenever I surf. I used to get one or two whenever I went to Mac Rumors, get a couple with Amazon or Yahoo or any of the many websites I went to.

All I know is pop ups suck more than spam email. My sister's compaq had some sort of spyware or something that would give her literally hundreds of them every hour and I spent days deleting all of these invisible programs hidden in her temp files and then installed 3 (yes, *3*) different pop up blockers and spend a few days programming them until finally she just gets a few here and there, but she
    still gets them.
