I would like to know what do you think of the iMac 24" as far as gaming is concerned. Is it a decent gaming machine? I am thinking of having a separate partition with XP inside it, just for gaming. I would like to play games such as F.E.A.R. and Half Life 2. Is this machine enough? I will buy it with the built-to-order upgrade nVidia 7600 GT. Is it a good card?

The 7600GT is a pretty good card. I have the stock ATI card in my iMac and it handles HL2 fine, so the 7600 should be even better.

Its a good gaming machine, it will play HL2 and FEAR beautifully though you may need to step down the graphics quite a bit to play FEAR at native res.

    Enjoy.

As long as you got a copy of XP it just fine. Without XP its crap for gaming because the Mac Library for gaming is puny.

i got the 24" with the 7600 GT and i play Cod2 and Splinter Cell Double Agent at 1920 x1080 at decent graphics. I dont know bout FEAR, i know its pretty graphic intensive. The 7600GT is a medium card, but its suprised me running at native resolution

7600Gt is a terrific video card in the middle of the market. I think it and the 7600GS are the best value's in the gaming market at the moment. Really these cards run anything you can throw at them.

My girlfriend plays WOW on her 24" iMac with 7600GT. Full res, every option maxxed out, and it plays beautifully.
