iMac G4 (Flatscreen) superdrive upgrade

Hello,

is it possible to buy a new internal optical drive, either combo or super, for my 700MHz G4 iMac, and make it bootable? I'm debating wether to buy an external DVD-drive, but I realized that if buying Tiger, I cannot install it from that drive. (correct me if I'm wrong)

Some drives work for booting, right off.

The Lacie Dual layer drive boots some machines ok. As do the Pioneer A06 Single Layer drive.
