Hello all, I have a simple question that I'm sure there is an answer for. I have previously made a DVD using iMovie and iDVD for my my girlfriend. I burned the DVD, then erased the projects off of my hard drive to get some space back. Now, I am working on another iMovie project, and I really want the section off of that first dvd to be in this movie as well. How can I import that part of the movie into iMovie with little to no loss of quality? I was thinking of mac the ripper, but I'm not sure??

    Short answer: you can't.

Long answer: you just might be able to if all you're doing is a simple cut and you want to spend quite a while figuring out how.

On the other hand, using MPEGStreamclip (Mac The Ripper not required) you can take the VOB files off the DVD you've got, transcode them to .dv files and import those into iMovie. Of course, you'll get a fairly significant quality hit when you reencode to MPEG2 for the DVD, but for what you're doing that may still be the best option.

To make this a little bit more clearer...The original DVD is made up of 3: 10 minute iMovie projects. When the dvd menu comes up, there are the choices for the 3 different movies. I want the one ENTIRE part, sound and all (which was its own iMovie project), not a part of one. Thats why I thought that it would be easier, but it looks like I'm wrong. O well, it isn't like it is a Hollywood production.
