Due to a slight mishap with the forum DB (being my own fault) -- I had to restore the site from last night's backup (approximately 7am Sunday Jan 26th in the morning).

So all posts made and all new user registrations or other changes made from approximately 7am to 11pm on Sunday, Jan 26th have been lost.

Sorry for this, but it was the lesser of two evils.

Please let me know if you notice any problems.

    Ouch.

Damn I hope nothing serious was lost, first we have that worm then this.

Having the forums back after a backup is better than not having them I suppose.

Oh, and is it just me or do things seem a bit slower?

They are a bit slow right now... but I think it was due to a lot of scripts running... should settle out.

yeah... sorry about that. The other option was losing all the posts in the Help/Tips section from the beginning. Which didn't seem like a good option either. I figure one day of posts wouldn't be missed quite as much... though I assume we lost most of the superbowl talk.

so far things seem to be working fine though...

I'll let u know if I come across any bugs... ;)

So I guess that post about the "meaning of life" is lost. Now we'll never know.

    What are you talking about?

I thought everyone already knew that forty-two was the answer.

But what is the Question To The Meaning Of Life?

I think I lost 2 posts, oh well. Any idea how many posts were lost in total? And would that also delete any new member accounts?

You're all forgetting the paradox associated with the Answer to the Meaning of Life - you can't actually know the answer and the question, only one or the other.

The answer everyone is dying to find out.

Or is it more of a Douglas Adams vs Monty Python type of question?

Blogger lost a few of mine while posting, so now I run the cursor thru what I'm posting, hit command-C, then see what happens. If nothing, then I paste to a TextEdit file.

Re: Re: Important: Site Restored from Backup

Hah! Yeah, we like to dream too. :)

BTW: 6 should be afraid of 7.
I'm not sure why, but I got sick of hearing that expression so much.

    Heisenburg's Uncertainty Principle:
    dx X dp = h

You can't determine the position and the momentum of a particle traveling at around the speed of light.

So I guess we now have the
    Lifensburg's Uncertainty Principle:
    dQ X dA = t

You can't determine both the question and answer of the "meaning of life" at any one time. :p

    Great Scott!

I hope this doesn't leave hole in the spacetime continum! This could cause a major time parodox that could wipe out the entire universe! Hopefully the parodox whould only be limited to our own galazy...

Thanks for the prompt reply Arn, lke I said, we were just beating our gums, and, although I watched some of the Super Bowl, being English, I really didn't understand much of it...;)
