In 2050, where will you be and where will Apple be?

I would be an old webdesigner, and the web will be considered "old-school".

I think Apple will be the leader in everything computer related. G40's will be insane and... Mac-A-Holics and freshies, help me out here...

    Cheers,

i'll either be 77, or pushing daises. Honestly, I have no idea where we're going to be headed. Who knows how accurate movies like Terminator or The Matrix will be. To have computers so fast, and so intuitive that they're actually smarter than humans, and will/might take over. There is one good thing to think about though... if these machines that will eventually take us over are running Microsoft software... they'll crash all the damn time. So, i'm not too worried about that.

As far as hardware, we'll probably be in 1024bit computing, and processors so fast and small that we wont need desktops, or anything like that... we'll just have the computer networked to our brain, and we just think of crap.. like turn of coffee machine, or download porn... whatever it may be. I'm sure all that stuff will be able to work off the electrical impulses in our brain. Talk about low voltage... plus, by then we'll probably have colonies on the moon, or mars... or something like that. It'll be interesting... if we're here... by the way, where'd you get the number 2050?

Just a date that seems like drastic change in the world. Hopefully the Bush name will no longer exist too, in certain areas of professions.

we will all drive cars that fly, wear metallic suits that never need ironing, and have robots to clean our houses, just like sci-fi movies predicted will happen by 2000

I find it hillarious that the first post about far out advanced technology and the huge leaps computers will take, was about porn.

Y'all are thinking it!! Props to the first guy who said it. :D

It's fun to the imagine the far future. Society could go in many drastically different directions over 50 years.

Yeah, just like nobody has Hitler as a surname anymore. Anyone named Bush will eventually change it, hopefully.

By 2050, the flux capacitor will be complete, and any time I drive over 87mph, I'll travel through time to crazier times, like 2157, where I can plug a USB23 cable into my ass and print thoughts from my brain.

    *blink* "I know kung-fu!"

Nanotech my dear Watson, Nanotech................. :D Who needs a compter hooked up to their brain when you can have it directly in your brain? Course one thing that would have to happen, is society changing in many ways. Living 300 years +, being able to be augmented, etc. The only question is how it will go down, nice and quiet, or what games like Deus Ex have shown? No one knows, all we can do is wait..............

The third world war would have broken out, most of humanity was wiped, and to survive, we create a drug which restrains all human emotions, we will have destroyed all forms of art and literature. That's from Equilibrium if you haven't seen it.

I think I'll be relaxing, prolly retired. I think Apple will be running the world. Seriously.

2050 will be a slow year following a HUGE 2049 that sees the release of a version of Windows that doesn't suck major ass since Gates and Balmer had left the company 2 years previous because the comapany has slipped to a 3.4 percent market share. The PowerBook G5 will finally see the light of day. Apple will have debuted their new 63" Widescreen 2xHD monitor with 17.8 Megapixels that requires your PowerMac to have 3 PCI-4X slots of graphics cards to run.

Also, the iPod mini will finally become fully and easily available. :D

Basically not much different from today. Sure we'll have faster cheaper computers, possibly less dependance on oil for cars.
We'll still have desease, we'll still have wars, we'll still have death.
    Nothing much different.

Or the world will go into nuclear war, and we all die.

or, god forbid, everything on Apple.com will actually be readily avaliable, and easy to obtain.

By 2050, we will have slowed our burning desire to be consumers 24/7. Computers will be used more for day to day needs than for day to day addiction feeding - must... get... to... macru...mors.... NOW!!!

On the first day of 2050, Mr. Anderson will have exactly 298,721 posts at MacRumors. It's a mathematical certainty. ;)

ideally, apple will own microsoft...i will still be alive at 87, and the G40 will be on the market

most likely apple will not be around or in the unlikely event that they are, sony, ibm, or microsoft will own them...i will be dead...and the G40, that will be some model of a kawasaki rockebike ;)

It will be exactly the same, except TV's will have larger screens and take up less space, cars will be rounder, and popular color schemes will be slightly different.

Sadly I know that I won't be around in 2050. I'm just excitedly looking forward to what Apple will introduce during my useful lifetime.

What would you predict for my by 2025 DoctorQ?

I think we're going to view an 80 year life expectancy sort of the way we look at how cave men lived. I believe that if we begin to live for 300+ years (which is very conceivable) society would be forced to change, because NO ONE is going to be stuck in a cubicle for 40 hours a week for 300 years. We will spend a vastly increased amount of time educating ourselves, and in doing so we will begin to realize the error in a lot of our current philosophy.

Robotics will see a major surge, and they will begin to take over the menial tasks of our society while we are allowed to further our mental capacities. These robotic task forces will take over farming and constructions duties, making it possible to provide food and housing at no cost to everyone.

Capatalism will no longer be needed, as nanobots will be able to construct anything you want from your garbage at no cost.

I'm very excited for what the future has in store, I just hope that we have a president in office with some vision of the long term.
