Hmmm. Is this a Republican video?
I dunno. Seems to work okay for me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJHdBB3YX9k
Bring on 4 more years!!
Very casual style of commentary. Would take a while to get used to it, but more enjoyable than the stuffy, bile-inducing approach we often get when it comes to ceremony from guys like Alastair Bruce.
Pesky facts and history going to get in the way again
Just going to point out that Reagon and Clinton had the same bad approval ratings average during first term.
George W. Bush has 300,000 at his first and somewhere between 100,000-400,000 at his second according to Wikipedia. Obama's first inauguration was overpopulated due to him being the first black President. The 2nd time it's not as "cool" so of course there's less people. So... factual, yes. Interesting? Not really.
so did we just counter both of his smears with facts (again) and completely kill his arguments?
He won. And he won by getting more votes than the other guy did. Deal with it.
What was posted was factually true. The inference was not necessarily true. The count of people at the inauguration might be down because people don't like the President. I don't know. I'm sure in part it is. But I've no doubt it's also down for 50 other reasons. We didn't kill his argument, just provided alternative interpretations that are also plausible and it's probably a mix of them all.
Attendance may be down because I heard Obama was confiscating guns today.
I heard he took them to the other 12 threads we have on that topic.
Kelly Clarkson performed beautifully.
I was just going to say that.
I really like this ceremony in general. It's very elegantly done and the speeches are a pleasure to listen to.
Beyonce was amazing as well.
Oh yeah, I can never get enough of Chuck Schumer.
Can't win em all...
So my facts aren't as good as your facts? His approval rating for his first term is one of the lowest since WWII (Fact) and not as many people showed up this time for the inauguration then last time (Fact). You did not counter anything.
And yet, he's still the president.
And unlike Bush in 2004, he would still be president if the election were decided by popular votes.
Interesting sidenote: Democrats have only lost the popular vote once in the past 6 presidential elections.
I'm working today, so I didn't get a chance to watch it, but I'm just catching up with everything.
I remember a time when I didn't feel like anyone was on our side. I remember a time when it felt like we were fighting an uphill battle. I know words are one thing and actions are another, but man it sure is nice to hear that the POTUS is on our side.
Nice. I saw on HuffPo that he's the first President to use the word gay in an inaugural address. I thought it was a quite powerful speech.
And this means what?
I mean really. This time the crowds extended as far as the cameras could see. Last time the crowds extended beyond what the cameras could see.
Is this supposed to be devastating news, or what?
Even the approval rating thing. Ford, Carter, Johnson et. al. lived in an era where people got relatively honest news. They didn't have a Fox or Limbaugh or conservative bloggers poisoning the minds of millions of Americans with BS "facts".
