Briton has acknowlege this event yet our own Govt( U.S ) continues to ignore and cover it all up why? Its a shame that our own so called govt of freedom and liberty refuses to openly engage this subject and treats it as taboo! Other Govts are giving this subject a real look but ours? things flying in our sky that they cant do a darn thing about yet we hear security, security ,security yet they wont investigate a blatant Breach of Security?http://scifi.com/rendlesham/ Im getting a little tired of this as are lots of others.

cant say that i have but when one of the original mercury astronauts saw a ufo manuever and land and then take off while prepping a experimental aircraft. he reported it and nothing. anyways he went on to be one of the first men in space. 20 years later and still the same crap. a commander of a nuclear base reports this stuff and whats the response? give us all your information and you will not see it again thank you. The U.S military machine has kept a lid on this stuff since the start. even now past the year 2000 and whats the official word? oh we dont investigate that stuff, cia, airforce, nasa have all said this only to be shown to be lying up the yen yang. in fact nasa is being sued right now for this info from the scifi channel. This shows just how bad our own govt is at telling the truth. Sad a science fiction channel has to sue so we can get science facts?

Cool stuff. But I am glad that the government is keeping it as tight lipped as they are. There are too many fanatics, too many ignorant, too many gun toting, too many immature, too many want to be macho, too many scared of what they don't know, too many religious extremists in the world (much less in the US) that any space ship landing or encounter would lead to violence.

Without a doubt, in most US cities, someone would attack a UFO that landed in his town. Some kid, some thug, some drunk, some redneck, some god created Earth freak, someone would do something stupid. If so, why wouldn't the E.T's planet not retaliate? That's all we need, Bush going to war in Iraq, troops in Afganistan, Pentagon eyeing Iran and N Korea and hey, the E.T.s are pissed off Billy Bob popped on of their people and are planning an invasion.

We aren't ready as a people, as a civilization. That's why we don't know jack.

I think making aliens a public thing would be great for humanity. Sure, there will be those who are scared, and the bible thumpers who will not take kindly to such a discovery. But think about what it would do for humanity and all the petty differences we find in each other. Here is a quote from President Ronald Reagan which I think sums up what I'm trying to say:
Now, I'm not saying we'd be invaded, or that hostility would take place, but having something outside and above us, as a species, would help us get along better.

Now here's a great philosophy: "Please think for me! Decide for me what I need and do not need to know - I'm incapable of making my own decisions or controlling my own actions"

    That's just sad.

Agreed. America today is just become more and more passive. We just sit around and let the media and government feed us BS and don't care. Freedom is knowing all the options and choices, then making informed decisions based on that information. I'm not going to even go into the current administration and the Dept. Homeland Security, Patriot Acts, ect; hopefully you get my point.

it is true we sit around complacent and feed on govt bull, spin and the same goes with the media. I think the sad fact is something is up there and they dont want us to know. after apollo the man program was slowed down big time and if you think about it almost like they started moving backwards away from man space exploration( except for endless loops around earth) i mean really what have we done since apollo? almost nothing except a few robotic probes. why dont they openly engage this? if Et is out there then that would mean a Big Monkey wrench thrown into all the world religions, philosophy and perhaps history. maybe by hiding this they are keeping chaos under control. after all we cant even live with each other( war after war after war) how the heck could society deal with something so foreign? One more thing i wonder what govt apparatus is actually in charge of this information and if they answer to any elected official? i would guess this to be above the oval office no pun intended.

Yeah, I agree. Something this huge has to be above the President. Really makes you think about government in general, and how things aren't as they seem.

I find your points about mass hysteria and panic very valid, but I'd rather go through some turmoil and have the truth be known. I'd like to die knowing for a fact other life exists, and that sentience extends beyond humans.

Anyone ever read Michael Crichton's "Sphere"? He says that if we ever discovered aliens, chances are that we as a society wouldn't gain anything from contact. Most likely, the alien race would have a different system of logic and thought than we do, since they are a result of a different evolutionary path. As a result, communication would be difficult, if not impossible. Also, if they have any technology more advanced than what we have on Earth, it would be based on an understanding of physical laws that we don't have, so we wouldn't be able to understand how it works. Perhaps it's for the best that the government doesn't tell us if they have made contact with extraterrestrials. There is much risk in making this knowledge public (riots, etc.) and not much to be gained.

Actually we would gain everything , more knowledge, wisdom and technology but what could we offer them? i would say nothing but DNA and perhaps a Mac(G5) 1 more matter would be that our society would change or be assimulated into theirs. a more advance civilization allways overtakes the lesser one just as what happened to the South American indians when the spaniards came over with their technology. But what i am trying to point out is that something is going on and has been going on perhaps since the begining of man and our U.S govt is hiding this stuff with a campaign of lies & disinformation. when pilots, astronauts, and former presidents say they have seen these things then its good enough for me and about time to open this stuff to the american people. If there is a threat we should know? if there is not a threat then why all the cover up? The world deserves the truth but when it comes to this subject our govt is only putting out lies and spin.

If there are alien species visiting the Earth they are at least a few centuries ahead of us. We have nothing to offer them and I doubt any logical species would want to waste the time or resources to teach us how to achieve world peace and advanced technologies. The only possible point of interest could be our DNA which I think they would take without bothering to ask.

Even if the government does know about aliens it will not bring us advanced technology.

I thought the special was very well done, it looks like our Govt was very very concerned after years earlier a ufo had turned off all power to a complex that held 10 seperate ICBMs for about 30 minutes. It appears the first thing they did was to fly a transport plane with specialists to see if any of the weapons had been affected. This thing was seen on radar, it was seen by the military on duty those 2 nights, they had filmed it, taken pictures of it and even had measured increased radioactivity where this thing had scraped some trees. it was seen by many british civilians living near the base. I think what bothered the military the most was the fact it happened 2 days in a row and the fact that it shot down some type of light at the feet of the military and then sent down this same beam of light on top of where those Nuk'es were. Yet the official word from top brass was denial and dismissal as if nothing had happened. It looks like the technology to do what this thing was observed doing was about 50 years ahead of what we could dream! almost a little scary if you think about it.
