Hi, I'm not sure of a fix to your problem, but I would guess and say it's because you had fb linked to it before, and it's not updated that on the system.
I tried looking up their support before and couldn't get anywhere, but if you have fb or twitter you could try the steps in this wiki page: http://www.wikihow.com/Contact-Instagram

Sorry to hear it didn't help. I find it a bit silly that they have no support for their 300 million+ users, but what can you do!
