Install mod_security 2.5 on Leopard Apache 2.2??

What is the best way to install mod_secuirty 2.5 on Apache 2.2, Mac OS 10.5 Leopard Server??

I have not had much luck.

tmsos - I am setting up a Mac Server myself and been trying to figure out the best way to secure it. This is the first I have seen Mod Security http://www.modsecurity.org/ I like it, have not installed it myself but I will be trying to add it to my server set-up soon.

From what I could tell online, I guess the service is free up to 3 Connections?? Anyway, I wish I could answer your question about getting it running except to say it is a really cool security add-on and thanks for the thread. Seeing as you are trying to install security, I am sure you have researched Mac OS X Server security.

FYV, Here are some other security software the I have found so far just incase you have not heard of these yet. Some of these can help make your system more secure.


1. Open DNS - http://www.opendns.com/ - Once you get Mod Security working. This service will lock down what sites your computers can access making your server even more secure.

One of the thoughts I had was adding a G4 right at the entrance of my internet connection with a dual nic card and having everything flow through that to my internal network. On this machine drop these three on it.


2. Netbarrier X - http://www.intego.com/netbarrier/ - Start with this one on the G4. Really easy to use. If you are really IT savy you could use this one instead http://www.hanynet.com/waterroof/ It lets you edit the IPFW firewall built into OS X. It is kind of above me and does not have the user friendlyness that netbarrierX does, but it is FREE which makes it a good choice.

3. Doorstop X - http://www.opendoor.com/doorstop/ - Drop this on the Bottleneck G4 to add even more protection. Will close all services you are not using.


I know the last 3 don't have anything to do with your original question but since they are security related and you might find them useful, I thought I would post them. If not sorry for the information but thanks for bringing Mod Security to my attention.
