So I've been trying to set up PostgreSQL on my new Powerbook so that I can do some database work. (Yeah I know I can use mysql - but I need to use PostgreSQL) The directions on Apple's website say that first you need to install fink... so I downloaded it, and ran the installer. When it comes to the part where you are supposed to select the volume on which to install fink, it doesn't let me select my HD because it "does not support symlinks." I searched for this on Apple's website and they said to repair the permissions, which I did, but it still says this! Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Jason

Is your user account on the PowerBook an administrator?

No, but it shouldn't make a difference, right? Because it asks for the administrator's password when you run the installer....

Yes, it makes a difference. You have to belong to the admin group even though sudo stuff also is used.
