    Great article!

Worth pointing out that they put the 11% difference down to Mobile OS X being more mature than WebOS though. Also interesting to see the operational speeds seem to be 13-50% better than the 3G, not double.

    He needs a math lesson.

The 3GS is consistently more than 100% faster than the 3G in his tests, he just doesn't know percentages!!

I think he means a 54% reduction in the time taken to load web pages - but it sounds better to say it can do about 100% more processing in the same time; your choice of spin.

    Those figures are wild.

    - 0.1s accuracy? Not likely.
    - Render complete = when progress bar finishes, which isn't a fair measure
    - Percentage improvements distort the figures. For example, he measured the browser starting 0.1s faster (which is ridiculous by itself), but since the browser launching is so fast anyway, that unnoticeable difference is 13%.

Despite the figures sounding impressive ("50% speed increase! wow!"), you're actually talking about minute fractions of a second differences. Not worth the upgrade price IMO. Better to wait for the next model. Of course these small differences improve the perceived speed of the device (it feels "snappier"), but it isn't all that quicker.

I'd like to see cellular comparisons, so I can see if that HSDPA+ is worth it.

Using a stopwatch, maybe not, but looking at timestamped video its possible. (have you seen the Windows IE8 site - they're looking at 0.02 differences)

Render complete isn't a fair measure, but i'd say that it's proportionate - the whole page loads faster, and you can start using the page faster whilst still partially loaded.

Quite a lot of the changes are significant. Yes, 0.1 might seem nearly insignificant, but for search results/loading a key app, it's measurable - It's the Snappier feeling ;)

The phone is definitely quicker in loading apps, in terms of seconds - huge differences. Soon there will be some apps that really show what it can do.
