While Apple has yet to officially announce tomorrow's starting time for iPhone 5 pre-orders, it is beginning to look like the launch will follow the same pattern as last year with pre-orders starting at 12:01 AM Pacific Time / 3:01 AM Eastern Time.

Apple sales representatives have been telling customers asking about availability that pre-orders will begin at that time, and both Verizon and Sprint have announced 12:01 AM Pacific launches for their own pre-orders. AT&T has not yet officially released a pre-order starting time.

Last year, Apple was nearly 45 minutes late in starting pre-orders and experienced significant issues with online processing for quite some time after they did launch, and many users had better luck pre-ordering through their carriers.

Update 10:24 AM: Apple has confirmed to Wired that it will begin taking iPhone 5 pre-orders at 12:01 AM Pacific Time tomorrow.

Well, I guess I'll have to set my alarm for 2:00am. Seriously.

The 4S pre-order for HORRIFICALLY bad. Everything better be - as Apple says - snappy. No server hangups. I'm expecting a lot. Let's get it done smoothly. You've had a year to improve things, and this should be a focus.

(halfway kidding, halfway serious)

It says many people had better luck preordering from the Carriers during the initial rush, but from the comments I remember it seemed like people had less overall problems when ordering from Apple.

Last year I stayed up to try and get it right at 3, but it didn't open until 3:45 and then was so crowded that I couldn't get one. So by 4 something I gave up, when to sleep, got up again at 6:30 and did it. Then went to 9am class, haha.

Can't wait. Getitng a 32Gb Black for me and 16Gb white for the girl. Last iPhone I got I waited in line on launch day for about 5 hours for the 4. Going to enjoy not having to do that again.

I'm up for an upgrade this year and I will not be getting up at 3am to order. No matter how many Apple sells, they will produce however many millions more they will need to fulfill demand.

Does anyone know if Best Buy will start preorders too? I'm tryin to see because they're offering me a $50 gift card if I upgrade through them. Enough for a case or extra cord.

Who's getting black and who's getting white? :apple:

Also, I'm hoping by the time tomorrow they'll have a dock for us. I would love to have one.
