Official iPhone 6 and 6 Plus Cases Arriving Ahead of Friday's iPhone Launch

While shipping vendors have been instructed to hold deliveries of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus until Friday's official launch date, there is no such restriction on the official Apple cases designed for the new devices. As a result, several MacRumors readers and others who placed orders for cases when iPhone pre-orders went live last Friday have already begun receiving their case orders.

iLounge has shared some good photos of the brown leather iPhone 6 Plus case. The cases are very similar to the leather iPhone 5s cases with a microfiber interior to protect the iPhone itself, although the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus cases have an open bottom edge where as the iPhone 5s cases are enclosed with distinct holes for the various physical features.

At least one MacRumors reader has received his black leather case for the iPhone 6 Plus, while others are receiving iPhone 6 cases as well.

A Reddit poster has received one of each size of case, allowing for a comparison between the two sizes. The poster has also shared some photos showing how the two cases fit in the hand.

Apple's leather cases are priced at $45 for the iPhone 6 and $49 for the iPhone 6 Plus, while silicone cases are also available priced at $35 for the iPhone 6 and $39 for the iPhone 6 Plus. The leather cases are currently shipping with delays of a few business days, while silicone cases are listed as shipping in October.

Kudos to Apple for finally making cases that work with THEIR OWN FREAKING 30 pin to lightning adapters!

Not to mention pretty much every lightning dock out there!

I ordered my iPhone 6 alone to make sure I wouldn't have any issues and it should be arriving the 19th but the silicone case I ordered minutes later still says processing. I'm worried I'll drop my new iPhone before the case arrives and shatter the screen.

Not convinced about this iPhone at all. The biggest disappointment is camera…..still 8MP and 1080 video?!?!? I am not photos specialist but pixel is pixel. If I want to make pictures for my family and crop it after that…well 8MP won’t help me much. It has been like 4 generations iPhones with the same camera!!! Not mention waterproof capabilities etc. Apple not even doing catching up anymore.
I am sick and tired of Apple counting on us being loyal

Thank you sir! That photo really helped me decide that the 6+ is too big for my tastes. Will reserve a 6 from my carrier and will get it one day. no hurry for me.

Same. The leather case I got from apple for my 5s looked terrible after only a week of use. I'm going to wait until I see some feed back about them.


Has anyone measured these cases yet? I'm curious how much they will add to the dimensions of the phone.

Ordered two leather 6+ cases, black one for me and pink for the wife... should be delivered today. I wanted the silicon case but didn't want to wait. I wanted a case prior to my phone being delivered.

If you ask, Apple has always claimed they ship products on a first-come first-serve basis, but I have about 20 years of experience indicating that's just not true. As for their actual method: no one really seems to know.
