KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo today provided more information on the launch of the next series of iPhones, the so-called "iPhone 6s" and "iPhone 6s Plus," noting that mass production on the smartphone line will begin in late August, according to Taiwan's Central News Agency [Google Translate] (via GforGames). The production ramp-up will reportedly come roughly 1-2 weeks later than originally expected, but the change should not affect Apple's launch plans, which are anticipated to involve a mid-September debut as has been typical for the past several years.

The analyst notes that Foxconn is manufacturing 60 percent of all iPhone 6s models, with Pegatron taking the remaining 40 percent. Foxconn will reportedly handle all of the manufacturing for the larger-screened "iPhone 6s Plus."

Components for the iPhone 6s such as A9 chips and Force Touch-equipped display panels have been said to have been in production for several weeks now, and all of these components will be brought together at Foxconn's and Pegatron's facilities for final assembly.

Apple is facing increasing demand for the new line of iPhones, and a few of Foxconn's factories -- such as the one in Zhengzhou -- are rumored to be ramping up overtime for employees heading into mass production just to be able to meet demand. GforGames also notes that slowing production of the iPhone 6 line ahead of the updated models is providing some breathing room for the manufacturing and production of the new iPhones.

Earlier in the year, Kuo predicted a mid-to-late August time window for mass production on the new line of iPhones, so today's 1-2 week delay still falls inside the previous estimate. Recent rumors regarding the "iPhone 6s" and "iPhone 6s Plus" include the addition of Force Touch, a slightly thicker body to accommodate the new technology, camera improvements and perhaps a rose gold or pink color option.

When does Apple typically do the announce for the new phones? September for immediate release or August for September release?

in other news, the sun is expected to both rise and fail tomorrow

Wait, what do you know? The sun will fail tomorrow? I need to run out and buy supplies to prepare for the apocalypse.
:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Okay more serious now. What will the new iphone bring? Just a force touch screen? maybe a better camera? A9 Chip? 2Gig RAM?

I have to say having the 6 now, none of these wow me. This maybe the year I finally skip and save.
(aw, who am i kidding, I will probably donate my 6 to my wife and get a new one, but nothing compelling so far in the rumors).

It feels like I got my 6 Plus yesterday... 2015 has been going by so fast.

I'd stick with my 6 Plus but the 6s Plus is going to have updated spectrum bands for T-Mobile's 700MHz 12-A spectrum, so I'm going to upgrade.

I'd imagine that maybe the case for others on other networks, wanting to take advantage of spectrum that their older phone doesn't have access to...

Feels odd when you upgrade, not for new features, but to get better reception..

iPhones still make phone calls?!? (I was on Sprint for years, I basically forgot my phone could make phone calls in Idaho)

Maybe I might upgrade my iPhone 4, or perhaps I might wait for the iPhone 7. Speaking of the iPhone 7, what number iPhone are we actually up to, if you count the "S" models as a separate number, I'd really be curious to know?

Super!

I'm excited! Tomorrow I'm hoping to get the iPhone 6 Plus (16 GB) on T-Mobile's JUMP on demand. I know 16 GB isn't alot but it'll be for a few weeks given that I'll be able to get the 6S upgrade for free.

One thing I am hoping is that the 6S is 32 GB and not 16. -crosses fingers-

Hopefully the ramping up of production means we may get some more part leaks to confirm some of the revisions… (I know we've had a few already). Not that Im that fussed - but the rumoured 12 MP camera would be an amazing jump - especially as I'm upgrading from a 5. Regardless I'm looking forward to owning my first ever new in hand iPhone - ever since my 3 Ive always had second hand ones. Missed upgrading to the 4S, 5S and 6 and now plumping for a 6S Plus (or whatever this revision gets called). Im sure whatever they do this time round will be miles better than a 5 that randomly selects what battery percentage it will turn off at today.

I take the actual event will also get announced later this month I presume? To give people time to get tickets and what not...

+1

Upgrading for Band 12 support and 2 GB of RAM. And to keep up the yearly cycle of buy -> sell for top dollar in early September -> pay off EIP and have enough $$ left to buy new iPhone.
