Taiwanese website Apple.club.tw has shared leaked images of the purported backlight assembly for the "iPhone 7" display. The component draws some similarities to the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus backlight assembly, although the 3D Touch chip and LCD flex cables are relocated on this leaked part.

The website speculates the component could also be for Apple's next-generation 4-inch iPhone, but previous reports have said the much-rumored "iPhone 6c" will not have 3D Touch. The pictured size of the 3D Touch chip and flex cables also suggests the backlight assembly is designed for larger than a 4-inch display.

Apple.club.tw has accurately leaked or republished multiple Apple products in the past, including the iPhone 6 protruding camera lens, iPhone 6 logic board and iPad Air 2 logic board, but its February 2015 rumor about Apple adding Touch ID on the MacBook, Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad has yet to happen.

Apple may remove the 3.5mm headphone jack on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in favor of an all-in-one Lightning connector, possibly helping the smartphones achieve between 6.0mm and 6.5mm thinness and a waterproof design. The devices may also have a faster TSMC-built A10 chip and non-metallic casing with hidden antenna bands.

iPhone 7 Plus could have 3GB of RAM, 256GB storage and a larger 3,100 mAh battery.

iPhone 6s were doomed because it's too expensive. 16GB->64GB(+$100), 6s plus(+$100), US dollar exchange rate(+$100), no more subsidiary(+$100). People want a lower price... not 3D touch.

subtly "encouraging" people more and more into getting the $100 more expensive model with each new iphone + (not even gonna get into the storage)

So.. Wh'ts the benefit that makes it a news?

Will it 've an OGS (One Glass Solution) display?

I will be totally okay with waiting until the S version. I'm in no rush to buy 50$ adapters to listen to my headphones at the gym or snowboarding. Plus my 6S is a beast.
Yes, the good thing about "S" models is that both hardware issues will have had time to be ironed out, and that they'll have had time to fix more major leaps forward in design that have resulted in user backlash. The headphone omission will for example be a super controversial move if it happens. People are already questioning their hunt for thin phones when they released the battery pack. I think Apple is pushing it nowadays and playing a risky game that I'm not sure they should play. When did people last complain that an iPhone 6 was a bit silly because it was so thick? I'm not sure what's behind their obsession there. If they're ever heckled for anything, it's certainly not this.

Now this did not happen until August 1st with the iPhone 6S https://www.macrumors.com/2015/08/01/iphone-6s-display/

So this makes me believe this is for the 4" iPhone or we are going to see a shift from the usual September release.

There were earlier reports that the iPhone 7 release might be moved up because the 6S wasn't selling as well as expected, and now we have reports that 6S production is being cut back. Of course, the 4" iPhone might explain that as well.

"Leaks" like this may work against Apple's 6S models. Already a soft sell, with the market reacting, it's going to be interesting to see just how soft they get.

I'm fine with the Plus model having 256GB of storage and the larger battery but I'm not fine with it having the 3GB of Ram vs 2GB on the smaller one. That basically forces me into the larger model and $100 added cost.

What an odd statement. I've been a customer since the 3GS and I don't recall Apple ever forcing me into buying anything.

I would like to see a comparison of 6S sales vs 5S sales. Anything else is comparing apples (no pun intended) to oranges.

The first image on the right. Reduced bezels and not curved? This is what the front of the phone would look like, right? Looks good.

Apple forced the majority of us into the 64GB and 128GB right? Trust me Apple forces us to do what we don't want to do.
I agree with you, if one wants the best spec'd device, one has to get the Plus.
They already set precedent with OIS, and now rumoured differences of ram and storage.

Also, will the form factor change from 6 to 7?

I just did a quick Photoshop perspective correction and overlaid the new part over some images of the old ones. It appears to be the same size as the 6s Plus, just with the cables moved to the left.
