Just hours after iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus pre-orders opened, some customers in the United States have seen their orders move to the "preparing for shipment" stage with an estimated delivery date of September 16.

MacRumors readers that purchased their new iPhones through Apple, AT&T, and Verizon appear to be the earliest to see movement on their orders, but most pre-orders placed in the U.S. and abroad remain in the processing stage.

iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus pre-orders began at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time today, and shipping estimates slipped to 2-3 weeks or later for most models in less than 20 minutes. iPhone 7 Plus models in Jet Black are most constrained, with new orders estimated to ship in November in the U.S., Canada, and many other countries.

Still processing. 12:12 order (by the time i was done.)

7+ 256gig black

Shorthand?

7+256B

sounds like one of those robots from the new star wars.

Got an expected shipping date of 9/27-10/10 for a Jet Black 7+ 128GB but a date of 11/1 for my wife's Jet Black 7. Kind of a reversal; usually the Plus models ship later. (She's not too pleased.)

Mine says Sept 27-29 on Apple.com. 7 plus black 256gb. Wife shows the same through AT&T with same phone except rose gold.

It seems like UK stock is lower than the US, I ordered when the App went live even using Apple Pay and I was quoted 2-3 weeks, my confirmation email says 4-10th October! I ordered a 7 Plus 128GB, Jet Black.

While I was waiting for Apple and AT&T to talk I noticed people speaking of Jet Blacks slipping. Quickly decided that since my phone was gonna be in a case, I didn't NEED jet black so I switched it to black. Looks like it'll be a launch day phone!

Tried to place my order shortly after they went live, but both the Apple Store app and the website didn't come up for about 10 minutes. By the time I was able to place my order, shipping time had slipped to Oct. 18 - Oct. 31. Pre-ordered a 256 GB Jet Black 7 Plus.

As per usual, the Verizon website was not ready for prime time at the stroke of 12:01 Pacific. By the time it actually refreshed with the option to upgrade to an iPhone 7+, the earliest date was already pushed to 9/23. Mine is an Apple Black 256 GB.

Wish I could have used Apple's site but I'm using Verizon's upgrade program, so I had to go through their molasses field.

Bummed I won't be joining in the fun on day 1, but I'm still geeked to start snapping photos with this beauty on the 23rd.

People want that dual camera!

Good point. The "story" of this version iPhone may be something along the lines of:

"Apple saw a much larger then normal split between the models. This year more people went for the plus model to take advantage of the second camera"

Man the phones and watches sold out fast. I ordered as soon as the store opened which was like 12:04 am - I got one phone slated for 16th delivery, but another shipping in 6-8 days, same with the watch. Amazing how fast they ran out of launch day inventory. Literally done with all my purchasing by 12:15 am.

I really wanted to try out the jet black, but I too put mine in a case. Videos show it shows fingerprints like crazy, I'm curious as to wear and scratches, like stuff that gets between the case and phone over time. I don't use a completely sealed case like an Otterbox, I use Magpul cases so stuff can get back there. The new aluminum with the 6s is tough as is the finish, mine looks pristine after a year of carrying it.

The only reason I like to keep them nice is for resale value.

crap I am still on hold to try to have my shipping address changed. apparently there is some stupid rule that apple says att says it can only ship to the billing address. Apple said Att has to allow them to change it (even tho I bought it through the apple upgrade program on the apple website) Att says they are full of **** they cant do anything to the order since it wasn't placed on ATTs website.

You could probably get one sooner by watching the in-store pickup stock. Last year my wife got a rose gold plus before a lot of people got their pre orders. Just check the availability every night at midnight after launch weekend.

I have also found that is the best way to get a phone within the first few days if you miss the initial preorder date.

They can cancel your first order? And how do you check availability at midnight at a store?

Haha never forget

That was a lot of fun. Lol. I don't know why it made me laugh so hard, but the irony was just too rich... then I felt bad for the guy.

Yeah, you can cancel, but I'm not sure at what point they no longer let you cancel (if there is one). You log on to the Apple Store, and go through the buying process and select in store pickup, it will then show availability at all stores in your area. You can then reserve it and pick it up during the 30 minute window you select.
