As the iPhone 7 and Apple Watch Series 2 go on sale around the world today, Apple has begun collecting photos from Apple retail locations and shared them on its website. This morning, CEO Tim Cook tweeted the short blog post, depicting customers excitedly purchasing the new devices at Apple locations across the globe.

Specifically, there are images from Apple Passeig de Gràcia in Spain, Apple Causeway Bay in Hong Kong, Apple Omotesando in Tokyo, and Apple Sydney in Australia.

Thanks to time zone differences, a few customers in New Zealand began receiving their iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus pre-orders yesterday, sharing a few unboxed images of the smartphones online. In the Sydney Apple location, a group of students who had been waiting in line for the iPhone 7 Plus in Jet Black -- which was confirmed to be sold out on Wednesday -- walked away with $100 gift cards and two iPhone 7 models each.

With hype surrounding the iPhone 7, the Apple Watch Series 2 hasn't received as much attention. Apple's wearable device has faced a few pre-order snafus of its own, however, with Best Buy informing early pre-order customers that their launch day shipments would be delayed nearly two weeks. The retailer did the same thing for a few unfortunate iPhone 7 customers, and in compensation offered gift cards to be put towards a future purchase at Best Buy: $50 for Apple Watch pre-orders and $100 for iPhone 7 pre-orders.

For plenty of customers who pre-ordered early last Friday, their shipments should be arriving as the day progresses. If you're waiting for your own device, be sure to check out the MacRumors forums to view iPhone 7 and Apple Watch Series 2 launch day posts from other members.

My local Verizon store said they would have walk-in iPhone 7's available. I missed the pre-order last Friday so going to wait in line 30 minutes before open and see. Doubt I'll get a Plus version but that's ok.

They said the number doesn't mean anything because they don't have enough iPhones. Translation: They didn't have enough iPhones at launch so their opening weekend sales will be lower and that would hurt the stock.

But isn't Timmy a logistics guy / bean counter. Isn't getting the massive amount of product built and to the right place at the right time supposed to be the one thing he's good at?

Is there any information in which countries Apple Watch Series2 will be available?

There are about 10 ahead of me at Michigan Ave. The reps are letting those with 8:00 reservations ahead of those with 8:30. The walk in line is behind and a bit longer. Not sure how much will be left for them.

Lines at my local Apple Store have been noticeably shorter today than in previous years.
Since there are no 7 Plus for walk up and you can have pre-orders shipped this year it doesn't surprise me. I am only at the store because of the iUP. Maybe next year they will adopt a shipment method like the carriers. It isn't as if they can't run a credit check online and place a hold on a credit card.

I'll start by pointing out that I do not post here much. My girlfriend and I have been participating in every launch day event starting since 2009. Some years we have pre-ordered but most we have waited in line for. This years launch is the most frustrating yet. We were camping in the mountains when pre-orders opened and planned on waiting in line as we have done many times this morning until learning that stores wouldn't have the 7 plus on launch day. Why did Apple change their distribution model? In the past Apple always made small quantities available to stores, even when pre-orders sold quickly. I just don't get this years launch.
