I would like a second iPhone. I have only owned the iPhone 5. Shall I buy another iPhone 5 or try the iPhone 4S .....for variety?

Depends on when you need it. Could wait until 5S for variety.

Decision will be entirely on other advice rather than financial.

Okay? Well finances play a role in the equation.

If money is not an issue, why not get the best thing there is?
If you go to a 4S from the 5, the thing you'll notice most is probably the smaller 3.5" screen

If money is not an issue then why even pose this question. Just buy and see for yourself.

Well you are the luckiest man in the world, because you will never have to ask, Black or White? Black with the tough crowd, white with the artsy folks!

Is variety your only concern? Compare the features and specs and pick what suits you best. Try reading other "5 versus 4s" threads. If you want recommendations then clarify what you're after. What do you need? Device selection is a subjective matter and that means that you need to give us info about you that helps to narrow it down to one or the other.

why would you want to downgrade for variety? Its the same just with less.
