Anyone think that this would make for one of the best platforms ever?
Kinda like Microsoft Exchange, but Mac?

The idea is, you have a Leopard Server (accessible to the internet, your LAN etc..) hosting your Mail, Calendars, Chat, and hopefully Contacts which syncs nicely and is all visible from Mail, iCal, iChat, Address Book etc.. but also, the same information is on your iPhone, all with push support!

So, you "pair" your phone with the server; if you add anything on the phone, it syncs back (either via Wifi or GPRS depending where you are) and if you add anything on your Mac PC/Laptop, it also adds it onto the server.. and then pushes out to the iPhone if required.

This would be my "dream" situation.. if it was possible, I'd be buying a Leopard Server and iPhone pretty much as soon as it was all available!

It seems VERY obvious that Leopard Server will start doing things like this - what worries me, is Apple's direction always seems to be consumer and not business, and this is a very business situation (IMO).

    Any thoughts?

Same here. We are looking into purchasing our own servers, and trying to get them to agree on an Apple solution is like pulling teeth from the gums of a baby. They are leaning towards a MS Exchange server setup, which encompases all that you have noted above.

If iPhone integration was included, I would sell my blackberry and be with the iPhone!!
