Does anyone know what the hardware latency is on the iPhone? I realize it'll depend on the quality of your connection, but what's the best case scenario (let's assume a direct connection to the server)? I suppose it's probably also different for EDGE/3G/WiFi. I'm trying to determine how viable a game would be requiring a constant connection between an iPhone and a server, running at at least 3 but preferably more like 5 fps. Or put another way, can I do a continuous 3-5 roundtrips per second from ideally half way around the world? Obviously if the latency is in the hundreds of milliseconds it's not going to work well (especially after adding the latency from the entire connection in), but hopefully it's better than that?
