Nearly one week following the launch of the iPhone SE, availability of the new 4-inch smartphone continues to tighten. Apple now lists a standard delivery estimate of around April 22-27 in the U.S. for the majority of iPhone SE models, while in-store stock is depleted in many major cities.

While extended delivery estimates are anecdotal evidence that iPhone SE sales may be off to a good start, they are not a measurable indicator of exact supply and demand. KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and Localytics both believe first weekend sales were "lackluster," but Apple has not disclosed any official figures.

I plan to buy an SE for my wife, but we aren't on a tight timeline to do so. She has my old iPhone 5 which is showing its age, but with two young kids, we don't have a ton of spending money to spend on device upgrades, and she is gracious enough to let me have first crack most of the time. She has been adamant about not getting a bigger phone - the 4" is already stretching it for her (she preferred the 3.5" of her old 4S).

Oh please, Apple is purposely doing this. They do this EVERY year a iPhone comes out. They only sale around 500K every year, but claim they sale millions. Give me a break!

My SIM FREE SE will be here tomorrow. Space Gray 64GB. Cannot wait. Got my Note 5 sold now and will be shipping it tomorrow once the SE arrives via the big brown truck. The sale price of my Note basically covered the SE price...beautiful. Magpul urban gray field case and tempered glass screen protector standing by. Haven't been this excited for a phone since the iP6+ release.

Now I look forward, which awesome incredible innovative product these Cuppertino Clowns are going to release next.
It will surely sell like hot cakes.

While the 4 inch SE is too small for me, I definitely do think that demand for the phone will be strong. What's to be seen is if it will be enough to warrant another 4 inch phone in the future.

LOL sure it is. Apple's sad attempt to make it look like demand is high after stories ran about it not selling well. And of course it isn't selling well. There aren't enough clueless people in existence to make a 4 inch 400 dollar phone a success.

Now I feel very fortunate that I was able to walk into my local Apple Store and get mine on launch day. I didn't think they'd have any because my pre-order wasn't going to ship until mid-April (after ordering it the first day it was available). I guess I got lucky. And the SE is definitely working out well for me.

I recently just sold my iPhone 6+ and bought a gently used iPhone 4S. It was trippy going back down to 3.5" but it does all I need a phone to do. The 4S was and still is my all-time favourite form factor for the iPhone.

The only person that's clueless here is you. The SE is hot. Apple wouldn't play those tricks because they need to move ever increasing amount of phones in order to make wall street happy. You can't exactly front or back load the supply due to the fact that it actually takes humans to put it together. They need to sell as many as they can make everyday in order to meet their numbers.

I believe the tightening is due to Apple's awareness of the yellow screen of SE. An immediate call to stop production must have been made by Apple :(
