    Hey guys.
    First time poster.

I currently have an old 8G nano which holds nowhere near enough songs so i am looking to buy the iPod classic but i have a few questions:

    1) Could someone please tell me the brief history of the progress of the classic?
As far as i am concerned, it has gone from 80G to 120G to 160G, whilst staying the same size for all of them?

    2) Will there be a newer version coming out anytime soon or is the 160G pretty recent?

    Thanks in advance.

The Classic has come as far as it’s gonna go. It’s been two years since anything at all changed other than prices and capacities (actually, Wikipedia tells me that the ones introduced a year ago had Genius and audio recording capabilities that the 2007 ones never got, but aside from that nothing has changed during two years).

As for the 160G, it was just introduced today, and if anything changes in the Classic, it won’t happen for another year. If it’s a Classic you want, this is as good a time to buy as you’re gonna get.

It was actually introduced once before in 2007 but then discontinued. And it's back

Well yeah. But basically what I mean is if you buy the 160GB now, you’re getting what will be the most current iPod Classic for at least a year.
